The Year of our Lord 1071 – Five years after the Norman invasion of England, most Saxons have learned to abide by the conquerors rules, but not all.
Pretty Saxon girl, Cynwise Golderon, detests the arrogant Normans and cannot understand why her elder sister wishes to marry one. Not only that, but she will have to live alongside the newly married couple in their stone castle for safety.
When she encounters Sir Renaud de Clairvoy, the groom’s brother, she takes pleasure in riling him, but it only ends up with her over his lap, receiving a sound spanking. By order of the king, Sir Renaud takes Cynwise as his bride, seeking to further their hold on England by joining Saxon with Norman. She detests his Norman heritage but cannot deny her attraction to her strong, handsome husband.
Renaud thought to marry a fellow Norman and a woman less spirited than the feisty Saxon wench he has been given. He must tame her rebellious nature, and the best way he knows how is with a sound spanking. She must learn to obey him or accept the consequences. Will she continue to defy him?

I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review and I liked it so much I bought it too.Loved the setting and the build up. As some of her previous books sometimes its hard to follow because she follows the language of the time. But its fun to figure it out. Ms. Dawson always has strong and feisty heroines and heroes willing to tame them. I cannot wait to see what happens in the rest of the series. For what I understand these are standalones and each book will have a new couple.
Its a good, quick and fun read which takes you back to the times of the Normandy invasion, arranged marriages and domestic discipline.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a little on the short side, but it has definitely left me happily waiting for the next book in the series!! I just loved the characters the sisters, Elfreda and Cynwise are quite the pair of opposites. Elfreda seems to be more reserved and happy about her marriage to a Norman. Cynwise, on the other hand, still hates the Normans for conquering their lands. She is the very definition of sassy, defiant, and stubborn! Then there are the brothers, Gerard and Renaud they seem to be likeable fellows, loyal to their Norman heritage. Gerard and Elfreda are happily entering into their marriage. The problems start right away when Renaud and Cynwise meet. Then the king visits and decides they will marry!! It is a very fun, humorous and sweet story, with many deserved spankings, that will keep you turning the pages! Loved it!
This was a cute medieval story about a Saxon woman, Cynwise, who is forced to marry a Norman soldier named Renaud. I enjoyed the characters and found the story entertaining and well written. But I felt that it could have been much better had the author taken more time to develop the main character's relationship. Cynwise absolutely hates the Normans - and Renaud even more so because he constantly baits her and her spanks her on the bare the first day they meet! Once they marry though, Cynwise falls much too quickly into line, and for, the arrogant Norman. I would have liked to have read about a longer transition time in their burgeoning relationship. The spankings also were quite quick and harsh, yet Cynwise barely ever cries and is able to ride a horse for 2 days after a particularly hard spanking! Loved her consistently mischievous nature, and how she baited Renaud right back...even at the risk of her own backside!

Renaud by maryse dawson
I received this book as an ARC book to evaluate. This book is a little short (59 pages) but it is a part one so I guess that is ok. Some parts seem shortened. It is about 2 saxton sisters Elfreda the oldest and Cynwise . They are made to marry the conquering Normans by King William to help unite the countries. Elfreda is happy but Cynwise has not forgiven the Norman’s for taking over their lands. Alfred is a quiet, very well behaved sister and Cynwise is just the opposite . Alfrieda marries Sir Gerarde de clairvoy first and then after trying to talk the king out of it Renaud is made to marry Cynwise. They quickly grow to love one another(this part seems rushed to me) Cynwise has problems with her old boyfriend Algar which the brothers take care of hopefully for good. The third brother Author also shows up. Cynwise earns herself many spankings for disobedience but clearly it is loving discipline given for jepordising her safety. This is a lovely love story with quite a bit of loving discipline. I will wait anxiously for part two of the knights of Normandy. I enjoyed this book

This story was a great story with a naughty heroine who can't seem to help but get into trouble and hero who's always willing and able to correct her for naughty behaviour. I wouldn't necessary call this an erotic book so if you're looking for erotic spankings then I suggest you look elsewhere. But there are plenty of spankings here as the heroine gets into quite a bit of trouble while dealing with her jealousies regarding another woman and her efforts to untangle herself from a former would-be lover and other general mischief. I rather liked reading about the reasons she dreamt up in order to earn herself a spanking. However, I felt that, on the whole, the book was a bit short. I wish there was more of pretty much everything, more mischief, more romance, more depth to the story, etc. On a side note, the author uses some older styled language, like thee, thy, hath, etc. in order to help place the reader in the time period. As a bit of history nerd, I know it's not accurate language for the time period and was a bit hard to get past at first but in the end I felt it helped transport me back in time.
I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review and I liked it so much I bought it too.
